Planning Your Newborn Session: Why It’s Best to Book Early in Pregnancy

When it comes to fine art newborn portraits, thoughtful preparation is key to creating timeless, heirloom-quality artwork. While many families begin thinking about newborn photos during the third trimester, we recommend securing your session as early in pregnancy as possible.

Here’s why booking early ensures the most seamless, curated experience:

1. Guaranteed Availability

Newborn sessions happen within the first 7–14 days after birth, a window that fills quickly for boutique studios. I accept a limited number of clients each month to maintain my high-touch service. Booking early in pregnancy ensures you’ll have a reserved spot on the calendar. You can browse some of our favorite signature setups on our Newborn Portrait Gallery.

2. Wardrobe & Styling Consultations

Your experience includes a styling consultation where we curate wardrobe options for both baby and mother. From hand-selected fabrics to wrap baby to flattering gowns for momma (which we also utilize for our custom Maternity Sessions), these details take time to perfect. Booking early allows plenty of time to design a look that feels personal to you and brings your vision to life.

3. Artwork Planning for Your Home

From custom frames to handcrafted albums, we begin designing your heirloom artwork well before baby arrives. Early booking gives us time to plan artwork that beautifully complements your home’s style.

4. Priority Scheduling After Baby Arrives

Once your little one is here, you’ll simply reach out to confirm your session date. Because all styling and planning happen in advance, you can relax knowing everything is ready for your family’s arrival.
