A Letter to an Expecting Mother in Indianapolis-Before Everything Changes

There is a version of you that exists right now,
and she is about to disappear.

Not in a sad way.
Not in a way you should fear.

But in a quiet, irreversible way that only motherhood can bring.

Right now, you are in the in-between.

You are waiting.
Preparing.
Imagining.

You are still fully you,
and yet, becoming someone entirely new.

Your days may feel long.
Your body unfamiliar.
Your mind filled with lists and tiny unknowns.

But beneath all of that, something sacred is happening.

You are standing at the edge of one of the greatest transformations of your life.

And the truth is,
you will never stand in this exact place again.

There will come a day, sooner than you think,
when your baby is in your arms.

This season of quiet anticipation, wondering, and becoming
will be gone.

It will be replaced with a new love, but also with movement, responsibility, and a new rhythm that doesn’t pause.

In those early days after your baby arrives,
you will not be thinking about planning anything.

You will be healing and learning your baby while running on very little sleep.
You will be holding onto moments that already feel like they’re slipping through your fingers.

This is why it is so important not to wait until the baby is here
to think about preserving these first days.

Prepare for it now.

Because your baby’s newborn portraits are not something you “fit in later.”

You want to remember the tiny curled toes, the way they tuck into you, the sleepiness that only lasts for a fleeting moment in time.and the softness of their skin that cannot be put into words.

It all changes SO quickly.

Most newborn sessions are ideally photographed within the first 10–14 days after birth,
which means the decision is made long before your baby arrives.

If you’re here and reading this,
you care deeply about remembering.

I’ve designed an experience that allows you to simply arrive and be cared for.

Setting these plans in place now means you don’t have to plan when you’re exhausted.
You won’t have to stress about what to bring or how it will all come together. All of this will be discussed and thoughtfully prepared for you in advance before baby arrives.

I want you to step into those early days feeling held, not overwhelmed.

So this is your gentle reminder.

You don’t need to have everything figured out right now.

But this is one thing you can take care of
before everything changes.

And one day,
you will be so grateful that you did.

If your baby is due in the coming months,
I invite you to begin planning your newborn session.

These first days with your baby deserve to be remembered beautifully.

I serve families throughout Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, Westfield and the greater Indianapolis area, offering a refined, fully guided newborn photography experience designed for busy mothers who want everything taken care of.
